Complaint Filed Against Vijay Over TVK Leader Iftar Party in Chennai; Police Investigation Underway

Tamil actor and political leader Vijay is facing backlash following a police complaint over the TVK leader Iftar party hosted by his party, Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK), in Chennai. The complaint accuses the actor of allegedly disrespecting Muslim sentiments during the event held at the YMCA grounds in Royapettah.

According to reports, the complaint alleges that Vijay made remarks or acted in ways perceived as offensive to the Muslim community. The complainant has called for legal action against the actor-turned-politician, including a public apology for the alleged offense.

The TVK leader Iftar party was intended as a gesture of goodwill and community outreach during the holy month of Ramzan. However, the event reportedly descended into chaos due to poor crowd management. While approximately 3,000 passes were distributed, more than 5,000 people arrived at the venue, resulting in overcrowding and confusion.

Vijay Faces Probe Over TVK Iftar Party After Complaint File

Eyewitnesses claimed that many Muslims with valid invitations were denied entry, while some uninvited non-Muslim party members allegedly forced their way in, taking up space and sparking confrontations. The disorganized nature of the event drew criticism from attendees and members of the public.

Vijay, dressed in traditional Muslim attire, participated in the Iftar meal and delivered a brief address in which he acknowledged the gathering and expressed respect for Islamic traditions. Despite this, the complaint suggests that either his speech or the way the event was handled caused offense.

Chennai police have confirmed receiving the complaint and have launched a preliminary inquiry. Officials stated that they will examine available evidence, including video footage, to determine if any legal provisions were violated. If the claims are substantiated, appropriate action will follow, they added.
