The city of Gwalior witnessed an unusual and tense face-off between a police officer and a lawyer on Monday evening, as the chant of "Jai Shri Ram" echoed through the streets, heightening an already charged atmosphere.

The confrontation unfolded near Phoolbagh when Advocate Anil Mishra, former president of the local lawyers’ association, arrived with his supporters to recite the Sundar Kand from the Ramayan. Senior police officer DSP Hina Khan intervened to enforce prohibitory orders imposed across the city in light of ongoing security concerns.
Eyewitnesses reported that Mishra accused Khan of acting against Sanatan Dharma and began shouting "Jai Shri Ram". In a surprising twist, DSP Khan responded by chanting the same slogan, maintaining composure while ensuring crowd control. Observers say she then calmly asked, "What else?" before resuming her duties.
The incident comes amid heightened tensions surrounding the installation of a B.R. Ambedkar statue at the Madhya Pradesh High Court premises. Although Dalit groups called off their planned protest on October 15, the city remains on high alert following previous caste-related clashes. Authorities have deployed over 4,000 police personnel, and Section 163 remains in effect, prohibiting public gatherings.
The situation escalated further after a video surfaced showing Anil Mishra making derogatory remarks about B.R. Ambedkar, labeling him a “slave-agent of the British and a liar.” The comments sparked outrage across the Gwalior-Chambal region and resulted in multiple police cases.
The unusual cop-lawyer confrontation has since become a focal point of discussions in the city, highlighting the volatile mix of religious and caste tensions in the region.
