On 06 Jan 2020 at 8.45 Am there was an accident where two college buses (Stella Mary’s college and Arunachala college) collided each other at Soorapallam near Rajakamangalam. 25 girls were injured in this accident and are treated for injuries.
It has been reported by the locals that every day these buses go at speed of 120 to 140, which clearly indicates that there is no speed governor installed in the bus. Public also raised concern that these bus drivers are young and without experience and may be tried to show heroism to girls inside the bus. This is seen as the major cause for this accident as there was no other fast-moving vehicles or traffic on the road during the time of accident. Negligent and rash driving is to be blamed here.
Below points will help us to avoid this kind of issue in future.
Drivers of college bus drivers should be experienced and aged at least above 40 years.
Arunachala College of Engineering For Women bus accident with Stella Marys College Bus
College buses to follow the speed regulation fixed by the government and install speed governors.
If there are delays because of acceptable reasons, college management to accept it and not pressurize the drivers to reach on time.
We can work together to create a safer society.
Thank you to the college management team for understanding this and hope to see positive changes in the near future on the transport facility provided for student.
